Things Are Progressing

We're already up to 37 weeks...only 3 more to go! I went to the doctor today (this was my second weekly appointment) and found out a couple of things. First of all, last week I was dilated to the size of a fingertip and she said that my cervix was softening (both good things). This week, my doctor was very excited that I was already at a 1! It's exciting and scary all at the same time. My doctor says she feels confident that Karys will be born on time so that makes me happy. :) I also found out that I am positive for the Group B strep test that was done on me, which means that I will have to be given antibiotics during labor because otherwise Karys will get sick. That was a little disappointing because everything else has been so good so far. I was sad to find out that the results were positive. But I guess there's nothing I can do about it and at least there's a way to keep Karys from getting sick. So there's my latest news update!

Hey Janette, thats exciting news about being dilated! Thats where I was at this point with Luke so maybe this means you will go all by yourself and not have to be induced. And, I actually hear that about the Strep B test quite often, I wouldnt worry about it.

Yea. I am so excited for you. There is nothing like the feeling of becoming a mom. You are going to have such a great time!

I was Group B with Jack, had to get a shot and the antibiotics (ended up with a c-section anyway). With Sophie I had to have a c-section, and was Group B Neg, but still had to have the shot TWICE! It really is no big deal!

Hey Janette...it's just around the corner! I am really excited for you! Don't worry one bit about the Strep B thing...I had it with both pregnancies...very common...the antibiotic will take care of it.

I know what you mean about the shot of antibiotics. You're not really worried about it, you just didn't want to deal with it at all. I was excited when I was 1 cm, but there I stayed for weeks. At least you probably won't go past your due date. That's always disappointing. We're eagerly awaiting Karys' arrival! Blessings!

Okay...so I'm obviously a little behind, but I'm sure you are more than aware how lucky you are to be progressing. It was hard to hear that I was having contactions and no softening or dialation had occured. :) Praise the Lord! The Strep B thing is interesting because the OB's don't care it's the pediatricians. I was neg with Makala and had a c-section. So I asked my OB if it was necessary to have it again if I was doing another c-sect. He said no and I declined since we were paying for it. :) Glad things are progressing well!! We will continue to pray things go well.

About Me

My photo
I've been a wife for over seven years, a mommy of one for 2 and a half years, and a mommy of two as of 12/28/10! :) I married Ryan on July 26, 2003. We always said we wanted to have kids sometime around our fifth anniversary. The closer that time came, the more we started thinking we still needed another year. However, God held us to our original plan because Karys Elizabeth was born July 30, 2008...4 days after our 5th anniversary. :) I quit my job teaching kindergarten to take on the much more rewarding "career" of stay-at-home mom. There are some days that are hard, but I love it just the same. God surprised us again in May 2010 when we found out we were having baby #2. I went through the entire pregnancy expecting him to go past his January 9, 2011 due date since his sister was overdue. However, Zane Elliott surprised us by making his debut on December 28, 2010, and we wouldn't have it any other way! Now that we have "one of each" we could be "done" with our family, but hopefully that won't be the case. :)
